Accomplishments

Since its founding, JAUSACC has had numerous accomplishments, most notably:

  • Successful staging of the biennial Jamaican Business Expo.  The 2011 biennial expo, will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 20-21st at the Sheraton Hotel, 1825 Griffin Road in Dania. The Jamaican Business Expo showcases networking, educational and business opportunities for North American businesses, for entrepreneurs in Jamaica (particularly, members of the JMA, JEA and JBDC), and for Jamaican-based businesses to exhibit their products, obtain sales leads and develop partnering relationships with US businesses and vice versa.

  • Established the Annual Jamaican Milestone Awards that honors Jamaican entrepreneurs for outstanding performance and service.

  • Acts as a clearinghouse for trade and investment information

  • Steers the provision of technical assistance to small businesses who are members of the Chamber

  • Acts as a Trade facilitator  to the Jamaican Diaspora in South Florida and beyond

  • Operates a special fund to encourage and help finance trade activities among Jamaican businesses that are based in Jamaica and the U.S. 

  • Acquired membership in the Association of Bi-National Chambers of Commerce (ABiCC), exposing members to international networking with members of 45 country chambers.  Chamber President, Marie Gill, serves as Vice President of ABiCC.

  • JAUSACC and Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Annual Luncheon on 4th September 2009.  The MOU signified JAUSACC's role in partnership with JAMPRO as a facilitator of business with persons wishing to start businesses in Jamaica, or wanting to connect with investment and trading opportunities in Jamaica or vice versa.   

  • Host regular trade forums, in partnership with JAMPRO and various local International Trade organizations, the U.S. Commercial Services, Enterprise Florida, Export-Import Bank of the U.S., and the Beacon Council, exposing our members to resources that can provide export leads and technical assistance in penetrating international markets (other than Jamaica).

  • Lead outbound trade mission to Jamaica to participate in Jamaica's biennial EXPO JAMAICA event.

·      Provide awards of some 400 business scholarships for members for the Annual U.S.

    Department of Commerce's "MED Week" (Minority Enterprise Development Week)     Business Conference held in South Florida each year.

  • Hosts the Annual "Voices of Jamaica" cultural program in celebration of Black History Month in February

  • JAUSACC joined the membership of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica in 2010, and serves on the PSOJ's Advisory Council.

  • Launched Quarterly "Movers & Shakers Breakfast" event to bring high profile leadership and expertise to the membership, as well as to showcase business opportunities
